White House construction on the first round of the White House’s $600 million, 12-story PlankHouse construction project will begin next month.
The White House announced Friday that construction on two floors of the Plankhouse, which is the president’s new home, is slated to begin next week.
“Construction on the Plankshrine is proceeding well and the White house is fully supportive of the project,” a White House official told Recode.
The project, which was originally scheduled to be completed in 2019, is still in its early stages, the official said.
President Donald Trump’s decision to construct a new White House on the site of the former U.S. Capitol is the latest in a string of controversial decisions by the president.
“The President has taken a number of significant steps over the past year that have made the U.N. more effective and peaceful, including the elimination of the U .
N.’s Office of the Special Envoy for Syria, the construction of a permanent military base in Qatar, and the construction and use of an alternative power plant,” the official added.
